I've never been good at comforting people or giving sympathy.
It's kind of a problem.
*DISCLAIMER: This story contains some natural bodily functions. I'm just warning so you can prepare yourself.
Today Grandma got a decaying tooth pulled. It was underneath the crown and was causing her serious pain through the whole left side of her face.
She hasn't been able to get it to stop bleeding. She does take her gauze out every 10 minutes. That might help. Anyway.
I came upstairs for prayers and she informed me that she had just tossed her cookies.
She then said,
"I can't get sympathy from you two. You guys just got your wisdom teeth taken out."
And then proceeded to start crying. : {
I just stared at her for a minute.
I knew I should at least say something... But WHAT?
I went over to her. Gave her a hug and told her it would be okay.
I've always been awkward with these moments. I don't try to be. It just happens.
